The Governance Training & Development Offer for the 2026/7 school year is below. We continue to develop our offer in response to feedback and changing needs. We are confident that it offers excellent value for money and a comprehensive offer to all schools, academies and trusts.

Annual Governance Conference

Breakfast and networking from 9.30am

Sheffield Association of School Governing Bodies (SASGB) AGM to take place following the conference at 12.30pm

This event will focus on practical strategies to improve attendance, reduce suspensions, and minimize exclusions through effective governance practices.

THelen will examine the latest guidance on reducing suspensions and exclusions, share best practices for inclusive education, and discuss how effective governance can help create supportive school environments, as well as sharing her own experiences and advice.

THelen is a Learn Sheffield Improvement Partner for both primary and secondary phases. She has ten years’ experience working for Ofsted, most recently as Senior HMI and Assistant Regional Director. Prior to that she undertook a range of school senior leadership roles, including as a headteacher.

TThrough our 2027 conference, we aim to equip governors with the tools and insights to support and drive meaningful change in Sheffield’s educational landscape.

Cost – Tickets are available at no extra if you have subscribed to the Learn Sheffield subscription offer which includes the governance training package. For non-subscribing schools and academies, the cost will be £125 per ticket.
