The Governance Training & Development Offer for the 2024/25 school year is below. It has been developed further by using the feedback from last year and we are confident that it offers excellent value for money and a comprehensive offer to all schools and academies.

Course Overview
The programme of three training sessions is aimed at new governors and offers a broad and comprehensive overview of the skills and knowledge you will need to quickly get to grips with your new role as a school governor.
The programme aims to support new governors to better understand:
- The types and roles of governance boards.
- How to be an effective member of a governance board.
- The key roles and responsibilities of governance boards in contributing to school improvement.
- The different and complementary roles of the CEO, headteacher/principal and the governance board.
- Roles of different stakeholders and their relationship with the governing board.
The course will take place over three, two hour sessions.
Schools who have bought the Sheffield or RoSIS Governance Offer will have free access (subject to availability) to this programme. Settings who have not purchased the offer can access this programme at £250 per person for all three sessions.
