SEND Manifesto Being Developed

Learn Sheffield has been commissioned by SCC to support improvement in SEND in the city. This update, from the Learn Sheffield CEO, was shared with setting leaders on 30 September 2024 to provide more information about this work.

Autumn Leadership Seminar

The first Leadership Seminar of the year is taking place on Friday 8 November at Niagara Conference and Leisure, with a keynote input from Alison Kriel. This will then be followed by in-person locality meetings.
New members of the Learn Sheffield Team

Learn Sheffield welcomes three new colleagues to the team as we start the new term. We also have a number of the existing team starting the new school year with new roles, including Sam Dunker who is now the Deputy CEO. These changes follow a re-structure and build our capacity to enable Learn Sheffield to take on further responsibilities, including relating to SEND and Inclusion in the coming months. We are currently working on a more detailed update for our members, to share later this half term.
Autumn 1 Leader Briefing now available

The first Leader Briefing of the school year is now available below. These briefings will continue to offer local information which is relevant to Sheffield setting leaders. This briefing includes: Two LSIP inputs- one on early reading and the other feeding back on the learning from LSIP work in schools and inspections last year. A series of partner updates, including a health protection briefing, information from South Yorkshire Maths Hub, an update from South Yorkshire Creators Hub and some key resources from the Family Hubs Infant Feeding team. A Learn Sheffield update, which now includes the half termly meeting note that is produced to support sector and locality meetings.
Autumn Training Sway Released

First Leadership Breakfast of the Year

The first Leadership Breakfast of 2024/25 will take place on Friday 6 September at Learn Sheffield. Kate Josephs and Meredith Teasdale will join us from SCC to give an update on work that has taken place since they were here in January 2024.

Learn Sheffield Subscription 2024/25

The Learn Sheffield Subscription Offer for 2024/25 is now available. The new subscription model is different to the previous offer and is much more flexible. A recording is available, as well as a booklet with more information.

Summer Leadership Conference- Friday 28 June

Our Summer Leadership Conference is taking place on 28 June at Niagara Conference and Leisure. Learn Sheffield subscribing settings are entitled to one place as part of their subscription, with additional places being charged at £95. Places are now being offered outside of the city so please book now to avoid disappointment.

Sexual Harassment in South Yorkshire Schools- Report available online

The Sexual Harassment in South Yorkshire Schools Report is now available online. The report follows a series of workshops across a number of settings in South Yorkshire in which students were given knowledge of what is meant by Sexual Harassment, techniques to deal with it, and information about the law and what a good ally can do to mitigate matters and offer support safely.
