Support and Advice
We offer all the advice and support a school needs in order to have an efficient and effective governing board, including:
- Advice helpline for governors – by phone, email, face to face or video call
- Half-termly Sheffield Governor Newsletter and regular email communications
- Advice and guidance on legal and policy requirements and statutory governance regulations
- Support and resources for governing board self-evaluation and improvement
- Help and advice on how to handle complaints
- A central point of sharing valuable best practice advice between governing boards
- Support with governor and chair recruitment
- Annual Governing Board and Trust Business Planner
External services – included in your subscription
Our service includes a subscription to GovernorHub – a software platform built specifically for governors and governing boards. Used widely across the country, it provides a set of tools, designed by governors, which helps your board work more effectively.
A full year’s subscription to the ‘Standard’ level of membership for the National Governance Association – allowing all governors access to a wide range of practical resources to support them in their role. In addition, the NGA can provide expert advice and guidance, knowledge sharing, or keeping governors up to date on education news and policy through their weekly newsletter.
NGA Learning Link – a suite of more than 70 online training modules, covering all aspects of governance
Additional services
Access to a wide range of support and advice that governors may need through the year such as:
- Signposting to other specialist help where needed such as external reviews of governance, full training sessions for the whole governing board
- Direct contact with colleagues within the Learn Sheffield School Improvement team
