Learn Sheffield Governor Conference 2022

The Learn Sheffield Governor Conference 2022, titled "What are the key issues and opportunities facing school and trust governors in 2022?" will take place on Saturday 16th July 10-13:30pm. Speakers will include Sir David Carter and Sam Freedman. The purpose of the conference is to inspire and motivate governors to reflect on their own schools and the wider educational community.

Annual Governance Conference

An annual conference for governors will be organised, which will have a theme and not include the kind of content that would be found in a briefing. The purpose of the conference is to inspire and motivate governors to reflect on their own schools and the wider educational community. Each subscribing school will receive two tickets for this event as part of their subscription and have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets.  For non-members and additional tickets, the cost is £40 per delegate.

Sir David CarterSir David Carter
Sir David Carter is well known to us through his work in Sheffield. Sir David has worked in education for 40 years as a teacher, head teacher and MAT CEO. Sir David is a former National Schools Commissioner and he has been working with us in Sheffield for the last two years as Learn Sheffield's Strategic Advisor.


Sam FreedmanSam Freedman Sam is a Senior Adviser to Ark Schools and a Senior Fellow covering education at the Institute of Government. He has worked in education for almost 20 years and has previously been a Senior Policy Adviser to the DfE (2010-2013); an Executive Director at Teach First 2013-2018); and CEO of Education Partnerships Group (2018-2021). He is on the board of a number of education charities including Ambition Institute and the Holocaust Education Trust and is a governor at a secondary school in North London.
