Sheffield Performance Analysis 2024

The Sheffield Performance Analysis 2024 has been published. It provides analysis of attainment & progress, Ofsted judgements, attendance, exclusions, SEND and other pupil characteristics. It also identifies the trails for further investigation and the activities that are planned to address these in the coming months.
Spring 2 Leader and Policy Briefing Now Available

The Spring 2 Leader and Policy Briefing is now available on our website. This briefing includes: a national policy update from Sam Freedman, an update from Diane Stokes on the primary writing project, an article from Nick Whittaker on the recent report from the Institute of Fiscal Studies on SEND funding, the Learn Sheffield submission to the Education Select Committee, an update on the Educating for the Future Pilot- Report Cards project and an opportunity from Sheffield Hallam University to take part in a research project around social media violence.
Alternative Provision Report Published

Learn Sheffield have published 'Alternative Provision in Sheffield 2025' which follows a commission from SCC to support the development of a city-wide strategy for alternative provision. This report revisits a report that Learn Sheffield produced in December 2019 to provide the basis for discussions with colleagues across the sector and LA.

Learn Sheffield Future Shape

The Learn Sheffield Future Shape document was published in January 2025 ahead of our AGM on 6 February 2025. It supports the Director’s Strategic Report by providing an update on the way that the organisation has developed since the Independent Evaluation was published in February 2024.
'Developing a Sheffield Report Card' Published

Learn Sheffield have been working on a project to develop a ‘report card’ since September 2022 as part of our participation in the LocalEd 2025 pilot. The working group who have been developing the report card agreed in September 2024 that we would, in the light of national announcements, produce a document to share what we have learned that could be useful when considering a national report card approach. The document is now available on our Insights Hub.
SEND Manifesto Update- Spring 2025

Learn Sheffield has been commissioned by SCC to support improvement in SEND in the city. Updates on this work are available on the SEND Manifesto project page. Recent updates include information on the Learn Sheffield SEND Team, and updates on the work to reegineer the graduated approach and the work on healthy child development.

Learn Sheffield 2025 AGM Papers Published

The Annual General Meeting of Learn Sheffield will be held on Thursday 6th February 2025 at 6pm. The meeting will be held virtually. Papers for the meeting have been shared with members. These include the Director's Strategic Report, Member's Accounts and a Future Shape of Learn Sheffield document, which responds to the Independent Evaluation which was published last year.

This briefing includes an update on the work that is happening around SEND in the city, the recently published attendance report and the report on year 2 of the SAFE Taskforce. It also includes inputs on the Effective Preventative Knife Crime Education project and the work we are doing with Sheffield Young Carers around the upcoming census. It also includes information on the work happening in Sheffield around climate and sustainability.

Attendance Report Published

Learn Sheffield have produced a report about what works in relation to attendance. Good Practice in the improvement of pupils’ attendance in Sheffield Settings has been published on the Learn Sheffield Insight Hub. In addition to identifying the features of good practice, the report also includes a list of questions in relation to attendance.
Sheffield SAFE Taskforce: Annual Report Year 2

The Sheffield SAFE Taskforce: Annual Report Year 2 has now been published. This report provides an overview of the DfE’s SAFE programme in Sheffield. It covers the period from September 2023 to September 2024.
Young Carer Project Update

Learn Sheffield are working with Sheffield Young Carers to improve the identification of young carers and our ability to understand their outcomes. The project team have produced an update to share, which includes some next steps for settings.
