General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

Practical, sensible advice and support for schools around data protection and GDPR compliance

We can help your school to become, and remain, compliant new with the General Data Protection Regulation (also known as the Data Protection Act 2018). We provide a range of support activities and include the provision of a named Data Protection Officer (DPO).

  

What does the service offer? 

Examples of the activities offered by the service are summarised below:

  • Information and advice for the school, its governors and employees about their obligations to comply with the GDPR and the DPA
  • Monitoring compliance with the GDPR and DPA
  • Provision of training for staff and governors
  • Assistance with the completion of the school’s data audit  
  • Assistance with gathering evidence of GDPR compliance from the school's data processors and monitoring that data processing agreements are in place 
  • Assistance with impact assessments for existing or new systems 
  • Provision of training on the effective use of ‘cloud’ tools such as Google Suite for Education or Office 365, which can be helpful in improving data security
  • In the event of a breach, working with the school and Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) to investigate, report and manage data breaches
  • Acting as the identified point of contact for supervisory authorities such as the ICO 
  • Advice & health checks focusing on information security and the school’s IT systems

What does it cost?

The cost of the service is £1,930 per year. Discounts are available for schools working together.

How do we sign up?

Please send an email, confirming that your school or trust wishes to sign up to the service, to enquiries@learnsheffield.co.uk, marked “GDPR service” and including your school or trust’s name. If you would like a formal quotation, please request this in your email. If you would like us to quote an order number in our invoice, please provide a PO.

Once the school signs up, the DPO will be in contact to arrange working sessions to address key tasks agreed with the school. The DPO will agree with the school a shared folder’, using the school’s Google Suite or Office 365 system to facilitate efficient sharing of documents.
