Create Sheffield: Adventures in Cultural Education

(Sheffield’s Local Cultural Education Partnership)

Why talk about creativity now?

This autumn, as part of the Learn Sheffield Autumn Online Festival, Create Sheffield is leading a series of conversations about the role of creativity in education.

Join us online in the first 3 weeks of October 2021 to talk about how arts and cultural experiences can support recovery in the post-pandemic world. Help us to build our city-wide strategy for arts and cultural education in Sheffield.

Our 3-week event will introduce - inspire & connect up our education colleagues with our arts/cultural organisations so that they can:

Schools:

  • Understand why a focus on arts and creativity is so vital now
  • Learn about the range of creative opportunities on offer in Sheffield
  • Be inspired by case studies of creative education projects and share your own experiences
  • Connect with creative organisations in Sheffield and learn how to make the connections successful
  • Inform Sheffield’s creative education strategy going forward

Arts and cultural organisations:

  • Understand where arts and creative opportunities can fit in school priorities
  • Learn about what is happening in schools right now
  • Share your own experiences of creative education projects and be inspired by case studies
  • Connect with schools in Sheffield and learn how to make the connections successful
  • Inform Sheffield’s creative education strategy going forward

Join us to ask and answer the following questions:

  1. What place is there for drama and expressive arts in the curriculum?
  2. What role can creativity play in supporting children with SEN?
  3. How can cultural diversity, inclusion and identity be encouraged through creative partnerships?
  4. What are the Sheffield Adventures and how could they support school curricula?
  5. What role do arts and cultural partnerships have in supporting active health and well-being?
  6. How can engaging in performances and events build community?
  7. How can creative organisations support education colleagues across the curriculum & Key Stages?

There will be opportunities for all phases of education from early years to post-16 both to consider their approach to creativity, and to inform our city-wide strategy for arts and cultural education in Sheffield going forward.

We want to hear & share everyone’s viewpoint. Wherever you are in your career this conversation is for you.

This is an exciting opportunity for Sheffield's schools to find out about what our city's arts and cultural partners have to offer, and for arts & cultural organisations to understand how their work can fit in schools.

If you would like to get attend or get involved in other ways, do get in touch.
