For You, as a Governor or Trustee

Back to Homepage

The Learn Sheffield website has plenty of relevant content for you if you are a Governor or a Trustee in a Sheffield school, academy or multi-academy trust.

Governance TrainingThe most common reason for visiting is to access the Governance Training offer. If you are a governor or trustee at a subscribing school or academy, then your places on this training are included as part of your subscription (if not you can pay-as-you-go).

If you are new to this role, then our Governance Induction Training is especially popular and now includes one day (Saturday) options as well as the traditional twilight model.

You may be particularly interested in our termly Governance Briefings and annual Governance Conference. The regular briefing sessions are designed to keep everyone involved in governance up to speed whilst the conference this year is focused on the theme of SEND.

Governance ImprovementIf you are looking for support from our services, then you can find out more about the School Governance Improvement Service which supports school governing boards and trusts to develop high quality governance by providing advice, guidance and clerking services.

GDPRYou may also be seeking advice in relation to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We can help your school to become, and remain, compliant with the Data Protection Act through a range of support activities and include the provision of a named Data Protection Officer (DPO).

SASGBThe Learn Sheffield website hosts online space for several of our partners, including the Sheffield Association of School Governing Bodies (SASGB).

If you are looking for information about city strategy, then you may be interested in the School Improvement Strategy or the system leaders directory – which includes information about National Leaders of Governance. Sheffield’s Education Strategy is being revisited this year and more information about this will be found on the website later in the year.

PartnershipsThere are also an array of other partners who may be of interest but, for example, you may want to look more closely at information about PE, School Sport & Physical Activity on the PESSPA Alliance pages (which includes the new PESSPA Primary Toolkit) or find out more about Eat Smart Sheffield or the SACRE pages to access RE resources.

To find out more about Learn Sheffield itself, including information about the Learn Sheffield Board and the team, visit the ‘About Us’ section on the homepage. Remember too that the website homepage also contains the latest news, the calendar and articles which may be of interest.

More generally, you may find the Opportunities Bulletin (which comes out monthly) and the Leaders’ Updates (which comes out termly) interesting – and you can follow us on twitter: @learnsheffield.
