Trans Support Pack for Sheffield Schools

Published: 2 April 2018
SAYiT have been commissioned by Sheffield City Council to create the Trans Support Pack. It is designed to support with issues such as recording a students preferred name, providing gender neutral toilets, supporting parents, carers and siblings at the school as well as lesson plans for teachers to help introduce the topic.

Are you a teacher or professional who has lots of questions you want to know the answers to but didn’t know who to ask, websites full of information but not sure what is correct?  This document is for you!

Working in partnership with trans young people and other local authorities including Kent County Council, Birmingham and Barnsley, Sheffield City Council has developed a best practice guide for schools.  SAYiT were then commissioned by Sheffield City Council to consult with various schools and organisations to create the final version for the city, launched at the Developing Future LGBT+ Leaders conference.

This Trans Support Pack helps with issues such as recording a students preferred name, providing gender neutral toilets, supporting parents, carers and siblings at the school as well as lesson plans for teachers to help introduce the topic.

Although it is aimed at Sheffield Schools we believe that it is relevant to any organisation.
