Healthy Minds Roll Out 2017/18

Published: 22 May 2017
The schools and start dates have been confirmed for the 2017/18 roll out of the Healthy Minds Project, which brings schools and CAMHS together to develop a whole school approach to emotional wellbeing alongside other key partners.

The Healthy Minds Project is an opportunity for CAMHS and schools to work together to support a whole school approach to emotional wellbeing alongside other key partners such as Educational Psychology, MAST, SEND and School Nursing.

The 2017/18 schools (listed below) will be invited to a Healthy Minds launch event from 9.00–11.30am on Wednesday 21 June 2017 at King Ecgbert School.

Booking information will be here shortly.

Tom Billington, Professor of Educational and Child Psychology from the University of Sheffield will be leading the evaluation of this work and schools will be approached by his research assistant Sarah Gibson to begin this process.

Learn Sheffield will now act as the central point of contact for this project, so any further queries should be directed to Thomas Edmonds, Project Officer (thomas.edmonds@learnsheffield.co.uk).

They will also be managing the recruitment of the schools for the 2018/19 roll out of the project to a further forty schools. The information and application process for this recruitment is likely to be released before the end of term and the process is likely to be open until a deadline in October 2017. The intention is that the next group of schools, who will start in September 2018 and Janaury 2019, will know that they have a place before January 2018.

There will also be a Healthy Minds conference during the next academic year, during the summer term of 2018) to continue to share the learning, in addition to some city wide training events and sharing of resources.

The work that has been done through the initial pilot of Healthy Minds has been recognised within the recently published report from the House of Commons Education and Health Select Committee regarding ‘Children and young people’s mental health – the role of education’ ... https://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201617/cmselect/cmhealth/849/849.pdf
